Junior Mini Playing Rules
Number of Players: Minimum number 5 players, maximum number 12
players.
Game Length: One hour time slot. Game shall be 50 minutes in
duration to start on the hour and end at 10 minutes
to the hour.
Segments: Eight segments of equal lengths in time as set out
below or as time allows.

Playing Time: Equal playing time is observed as set out in the LMBA
Coaches Information Kits. The same players should not
play the extra shifts every week. (See Appendix “A”).
Time Clock: A clearly visible time clock is used at this level.
Time Outs: No time outs at this level.
Clock Stoppage: No clock stoppage at this level.
Beginning of a Game: The game will begin with a Jump Ball at center court.
Alternating possession will start each remaining segment.
Completion of a Game: No segment will begin with less than ten (10) minutes
remaining before the next scheduled game. At the
discretion of the official or coordinator, the segments may be reduced in time in order to allow all eight segments to be played.
Scorer: There is a need for a scorekeeper at this level, game time, possessions and player fouls are kept at this level.
Alternating Possession: Alternating possession situations include the following:
1) Held ball between competing teams.
2) A live basketball stuck between the rim & backboard.
Substitutions: Player substitutions may be made at the beginning of a
segment. In the case of an injury during a segment, a
substitution may be made. In this situation, it will not be
considered a segment played for the player replacing
the injured player. The injured player may return in the
same segment. However, the player who substituted
for the injured play shall return to the bench.
Full Court Press: After a basket is scored, the scoring team (now the
defensive team) must return to their backcourt and all
defensive players must remain in their backcourt until
the ball has crossed the center line into the defensive
backcourt.
3 Seconds
(Restricted Area): Not applicable at this level.
Man-to-Man Defence: Man-to-man defence is played at this level.
Zone Defensive: Zone defensive is not permitted at this level, as set out
by BNB. This is in effect a “plug the key” rule. A single
defensive player may not guard the basket.
3 Point Shots: Not applicable at this level.
Shot Clock: The thirty (30) second shot rule is not applicable at this level.
Foul Shots: Not applicable at this level.
5 Foul Disqualification: Applicable at this level.
